If your business is thinking about installing workplace EV chargers, then now is a good time. There are two workplace OZEV grants available to businesses. The EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets and the Workplace Charging Scheme grant (WCS). Below is an outline of each grant.
EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and fleets
This grant was introduced on 1st May and allows workplaces to save on the cost of infrastructure and installing EV chargepoints. Per parking space, you can save:
- Up to £500 on infrastructure
- Up to £350 on installation
If eligible for the grant, workplaces can save up to £15,000 per site per grant application, and there are a maximum of 5 grants available. So, if you have 5 sites, there is a potential saving of up to £75,000.
All chargepoints however, must be used by staff and fleet only. Plus, to be eligible for the grant there must be 5 bays provisioned and at least one working charger.
Workplace Charging Scheme Grant (WCS)
The WCS grant has been designed for businesses who solely require the installation of EV charging stations, and no infrastructure work. Businesses can claim up to £350 per Charge point installed. With a maximum claim of 40 chargepoints across the site.
For companies who claim the EV infrastructure grant, and need more charge points, you can apply for these through the WCS grant.
The recent changes to the WCS grant, means that small accommodation businesses, charities, and public sector organisations are now able to apply for a grant to install their charge points.
For both workplace OZEV grants, the total amount of grant funding is capped at 75% for the cost of the installation of the chargepoints and infrastructure. Visit our website for further details of the grants and the eligibility criteria.
